New Changes to Parking Lot Designations

Over the last few months, representatives from the College of Agricultural Sciences, Transportation Services, University Parking Office and Old Main have been in discussion regarding designation of the Colleges’ parking lots in outlying areas. Listed below are the results of those discussions.

Effective March 15, 2004, the following changes in parking lot designations will occur:

Orange Open Staff parking lots requiring open staff permits:
(the following will stay 'Orange')

Orange O - Mushroom Research Facility
Orange O - MTDF
Orange O - Poultry Complex
Orange O - Analytical Services Laboratory
Orange O - Turf Grass
Orange O - Dairy Barns
Orange O - Ag Arena
Orange O - Meats Laboratory

Red, commuter lot designation requiring a red commuter permit:
(the following will convert to 'Red')

Orange O – Farm Operations (east side of OPP)
Orange O – Merkle Laboratory/Gypsy Moth
Orange O – Pesticide Research Laboratory
Orange O – Dairy One
Orange O – Wiley Laboratory
Orange O – Animal Diagnostic Laboratory
Orange O – Landscape Research Management Center
Orange O – Beef & Sheep Center
Orange O – Swine Center
Orange O – Horse Barns
Orange O – Almquist Center

Floating permits are not valid with red commuter permits. If you need to use your personal vehicle to access campus during the day (7:30 am-4:00 pm) you will need to maintain at least an orange open staff permit in order to utilize a floating permit.

Transportation Services is currently looking into the possibility of altering the campus shuttle route to drive down Big Hollow Road and then circulate around University Support Buildings in order to provide better service to personnel in the areas off Services Road.

If you currently possess a red commuter permit and your lot has been changed to Orange open staff parking, please contact me (bjs6@psu.edu or 865-6650) as soon as possible so we can assign you the proper permit by the March 15, 2004 transition date.

For more information on parking, transportation or construction issues, please contact your College's parking chair. The College of Agricultural Sciences' parking chair is Brad Smith.
