Acorn Alcinda Foundation Scholarship for Entrepreneurial Excellence in Landscape Contracting.
Consideration shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students of fifth-semester
standing or above (junior or senior class) who are enrolled in the Landscape
Contracting major in the Department of Horticulture who have achieved a
minimum grade-point average of 3.0 and who have expressed an interest in
using their education to become an entrepreneur. Supported annually by
the Acorn Alcinda Foundation.
Bartlett Tree Foundation, Inc., Grant-in-Aid.
Consideration shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students enrolled
or planning to enroll in majors in the Department of Horticulture or the
School of Forest Resources who have achieved superior academic records
or show promise of academic success and have demonstrated interest in a
career in arboriculture or urban forestry. Evidence of interest may consist
of courses, work experience, or special projects in these fields. Supported
annually by the Bartlett Tree Foundation, Inc.
Patrick John Bennett Jr. Memorial Scholarship in Landscape Contracting.
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time undergraduate
students enrolled or planning to enroll in the College of Agriculture Sciences
and studying Landscape Contracting who have shown progress in their academic
work due to diligence and perseverance. Preference shall be given to those
students who have demonstrated interest in environmental concerns and in
their community.
Frederick H. Brown Endowed Scholarship in Floriculture.
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time undergraduate
and graduate students enrolled or planning to enroll in the Department of
Horticulture in the College of Agricultural Sciences at The Pennsylvania
State University who have achieved superior academic records or who manifest
promise of outstanding academic success and who are studying floriculture.
Wilbur F. and Mary P. Cherry Scholarship in Horticulture.
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to full-time undergraduate
students enrolled or planning to enroll in the Department of Horticulture
in the College of Agricultural Sciences who have achieved superior academic
records or who manifest promise of outstanding success. Preference shall
be given to students who are studying in the area of pomology.
** Oliver L. Christman Scholarship.
Consideration shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students enrolled
or planning to enroll in the Department of Horticulture who have achieved
superior academic records or show promise of academic success and have
documented financial need. Endowed by Eva H. Huber in memory of Oliver
L. Christman.
David Curwen Memorial Award in Horticulture.
Consideration for this award shall be given to all undergraduate and graduate
students enrolled in the Department of Horticulture who have demonstrated
exemplary academic achievement.
Esther J. Darrow Scholarship
in Horticulture
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to full-time undergraduate
students enrolled in the Department of Horticulture in the College of
Agricultural Sciences who have achieved superior records or who manifest
promise of outstanding success. Preference shall be given to students
who are studying in the area of Floriculture.
Aden H. and Merna
I. Francis Scholarship in Horticulture.
Consideration shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students
enrolled or planning to enroll in the Department of Horticulture who
have achieved positive academic records and who have demonstrated outstanding
leadership qualities through both resident education and extracurricular
activities. Preference shall be given to those students who have an
expressed interest in pursuing a career in pomology.
**The Heiser
Family Trustee Scholarship in the College of Agricultural Sciences
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all undergraduate
students enrolled or planning to enroll in the College of Agricultural
Sciences at the Pennsylvania State University who have a demonstrated
financial need. First preference shall be given to students who are
enrolled in the Horticulture major within the College of Agricultural
Sciences who have a demonstrated financial need.
**Holcomb
Family Scholarship in Horticulture
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time undergraduate
students majoring or planning to major in Horticulture in the College
of Agricultural Sciences at Penn State University Park who have achieved
superior academic records or who manifest promise of outstanding academic
success. First preference shall be given to full-time undergraduate
students who meet the above mentioned criteria, who have selected the
production option under the Horticulture major and who have a grade
point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Horticulture Alumni
Group Scholarship.
Consideration shall be given to all full-time undergraduate and graduate
students who are enrolled or planning to enroll in the Department of
Horticulture and who have achieved superior academic records or show
promise of academic success. Preference shall be given to students who
participate in Horticulture Alumni Group activities. Supported annually
by the Horticulture Alumni Group.
The Catharine S. Imbt Scholarship Endowment in Floriculture.
Consideration shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students who are
enrolled or are planning to enroll in the Department of Horticulture. Candidates
must have achieved superior academic records or show promise of outstanding
academic success. Endowed by Catharine S. Imbt.
** Joseph M. Johnston Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Scholarships are available to undergraduate or graduate students who intend
to specialize in floriculture and exhibit satisfactory scholarship, character,
and participation in extracurricular activities. Candidates must have documented
financial need. Endowed by the Pennsylvania Flower Growers and the Pennsylvania
Retail Florists.
The Klopp Prize.
This prize is awarded to members of the graduate class in Horticulture who
show the most promise of production service in the field. Endowed in memory
of R. I. Klopp.
** Robert P. Meahl Scholarship.
This scholarship shall be awarded to full-time undergraduate students enrolled
in Horticulture who have at least third-semester standing. Recipients shall
be selected on the basis of academic excellence, professional promise,
and documented financial need. Endowed in memory of Professor Robert P.
Meahl.
** J. Lupton and Eva Scott Mecartney Scholarship.
Consideration shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students enrolled
or planning to enroll in Horticulture who have achieved superior academic
records or show promise of outstanding academic success and have documented
financial need. Endowed by the estate of Eva S. Mecartney.
**Grant M. Miller Memorial Scholarship.
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the College of Agricultural Sciences at The Pennsylvania State University who (1) are majoring in Agricultural Education and have declared an interest in teaching rather than extension education, or (2) are majoring in Wildlife and Fisheries with an emphasis on management of healthy forests and wildlife population and protection, or (3) are majoring in Landscape Contracting and have achieved a minimum 2.5 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). All candidates must have shown improvement in their grades from the previous academic year and have demonstrated financial need. To the extent permitted by law, students shall be U.S. citizens.
Penn State Horticulture Club Scholarship.
Consideration shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students who are
active members of the Penn State Horticulture Club. Endowed by the Penn
State Horticulture Club.
** Pennsylvania Agronomic Education Society, Inc., Scholarship.
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time undergraduate
students in their sophomore or junior year who and are enrolled in any
major in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences or Horticulture. Consideration
shall be based on scholarship, leadership, financial need and interest
in his/her major. One award will be made in Crop and Soil Sciences and
the other in Horticulture. Supported annually by the Pennsylvania Agronomic
Education Society, Inc.
PennAg Industries
Seed Council.
Eligibility is open to all Horticulture and Crop and Soil Sciences junior
or senior undergraduate students who have demonstrated leadership and
character, and who have shown outstanding ability in agriculture particularly
as it relates to the seed industry.
**Myron
A. and Anita E. Pinkus Charitable Foundation Trustee Scholarship in
the College of Agricultural Sciences
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all undergraduate
students enrolled or planning to enroll in the College of Agricultural
Sciences at The Pennsylvania State University. First preference shall
be given to students who are majoring in Horticulture.
** Radley Run Garden Club Scholarship.
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time undergraduates
majoring in Horticulture who have maintained an above-average academic
standing and who have documented financial need. First preference will
be given to students from Chester County, second to those from Delaware
County, and third to those residing in Bucks, Montgomery, or Philadelphia
County. Supported annually by the Radley Run Garden Club of West Chester,
Pa.
** Max and Esther Sestili Sr. Memorial Award in Landscape Contracting.
Consideration shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students enrolled
or planning to enroll in the Landscape Contracting major in the Department
of Horticulture who have demonstrated satisfactory academic performance
and who have documented financial need.
Robert L. Skeath Scholarship in Ornamental Horticulture.
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time undergraduate
students enrolled or planning to enroll in the Department of Horticulture
in the College of Agricultural Sciences who have an interest in ornamental
horticulture and who have achieved superior academic records or who manifest
promise of outstanding academic success. Preference shall be given to students
from Schuylkill County.
George W. Sherlock Student Award in Horticulture.
Consideration shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students enrolled
in the Department of Horticulture who have demonstrated exemplary academic
achievement. Endowed by George W. Sherlock.
** Harry W. Skinner Scholarship.
Consideration for this scholarship will be given to baccalaureate or two-year
degree students in the Department of Horticulture on the basis of scholarship,
character, and documented financial need. Endowed through a bequest from
Francis G. Skinner.
Joseph G. and Sharon A. Strite Scholarship in Horticulture.
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time undergraduate
students enrolled or planning to enroll in the Department of Horticulture
in the College of Agricultural Sciences who have achieved superior academic
records or who manifest promise of outstanding academic success. First
preference shall be given to students who are majoring in pomology or olericulture.
J. Franklin and Agnes T. Styer Scholarship in Horticulture.
Consideration shall be given to all full-time undergraduate and graduate students,
including international students and noncitizens, who are enrolled or planning
to enroll in the Department of Horticulture and who have achieved superior
academic records or show promise of outstanding academic success. Endowed
by J. Franklin and Agnes T. Styer.
J. Franklin Styer Graduate Fellowship in Horticulture.
Consideration shall be given to all full-time graduate students exhibiting
academic excellence who have been admitted as candidates for a graduate
degree in the Department of Horticulture. Endowed by J. Franklin Styer.
** Walter Thomas Memorial Scholarship.
This scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students in Horticulture.
Undergraduate students must have junior or senior standing and documented
financial need. Graduate students must pursue research in the area of plant
nutrition and shall exhibit research or teaching potential. Endowed through
a bequest from Walter Thomas.
Twig and Blossom Garden Club Scholarship.
Consideration shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students who have
at least third-semester standing, are enrolled in the Department of Horticulture,
and have achieved superior academic records or show promise of outstanding
academic success. Supported annually by the Twig and Blossom Garden Club.
** Darrell E. Walker Memorial Scholarship.
Eligible students are those enrolled as full-time undergraduates in Horticulture
who show evidence of academic excellence and professional promise and have
documented financial need. Endowed by colleagues, associates, alumni, and
friends of Darrell E. Walker.
** John H. Weinberger Scholarship in Horticulture.
Consideration shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students who are
enrolled or are planning to enroll in the Department of Horticulture, have
achieved superior academic records or show promise of outstanding academic
