** Ag Limestone–Pennsylvania Aggregates and Concrete Association Scholarship.
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all eligible students who are currently enrolled or planning to enroll in the Integrated Crop Management option of the Agroecology major in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences, College of Agricultural Sciences at The Pennsylvania State University. Eligible students shall be fifth semester or higher, be in the upper two-fifths of their class and demonstrate leadership capabilities by participation in extra-curricular activities. Financial need may also be a consideration.
Alan F. Bilzi Scholarship in Environmental Science.
Consideration shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences who have an academic focus in soils or crop and soil sciences and a primary interest in pursuing a career in environmental science and who have achieved superior academic records or show promise of outstanding academic success. ** Buckwheat Scholarship.
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all undergraduate students
enrolled or planning to enroll in Agricultural and Biological Engineering,
Agricultural Systems Management, or any major in the Department of Crop
and Soil Sciences in the College of Agricultural Sciences at The Pennsylvania
State University who have achieved academic success or manifest promise
of professional success in their chosen fields of endeavor, and who have
documented financial need.
Edgar E. and Dorothy W. Fehnel Scholarship in Agroecology Science.
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time undergraduate
students enrolled or planning to enroll in the Agroecology major in the
College of Agricultural Sciences who have achieved superior academic records
or who manifest promise of outstanding academic success. Preference shall
be given to those students who have gained business management skills through
previous coursework.
Ethel Gerhart Memorial Scholarship in Agronomy.
Consideration shall be given to all undergraduate and graduate students who
are enrolled or are planning to enroll in the Department of Crop and Soil
Sciences, College of Agricultural Sciences. Endowed through the estate
of Ethel Gerhart.
George W. Hamilton Jr. Graduate Fellowship in Turfgrass Research.
Consideration of this fellowship shall be given to all full time graduate students
exhibiting academic excellence who have been admitted to the Pennsylvania
State University as candidates for a graduate degree in the Department
of Crop and Soil Sciences studying turfgrass.
**George W. Hamilton, Sr. Memorial Scholarship in Turfgrass Science.
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time resident
undergraduate or certificate program students enrolled in the Turfgrass
Science Program in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences, College of
Agricultural Sciences, who maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.0,
and who have a United States Golf Association (USGA) Handicap Index of
15 or below. Preference shall be given to students who have documented
financial need.
The Lawrence L. Huber Memorial Award.
This grant is awarded annually to a full-time undergraduate student enrolled
or planning to enroll in a major offered by the Department of Crop and
Soil Sciences who has demonstrated exemplary academic achievement. Endowment
to perpetuate the name of Dr. Lawrence L. Huber.
** The Lawrence F. Marriott Memorial Scholarship.
Consideration shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students who have
at least third-semester standing and are enrolled or planning to enroll
in one of the Crop and Soil Sciences majors (exclusive of all Turfgrass
Management majors). These students should have achieved at least a B average
in courses relating directly to their major, show a commitment to high
ethical standards in their daily lives, and be U.S. citizens. Preference
will be given to students studying agronomic field crops production and
associated soils science studies. Preference will also be given to students
who have documented financial need and sustained academic performance.
Endowed in memory of Lawrence F. Marriott.
** Willis L. McClellan Memorial Scholarship.
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to graduate and undergraduate
students who are currently enrolled or planning to enroll in the Crop and Soil
Science or Agroecology majors in the College of Agricultural Sciences at The
Pennsylvania State University who have a demonstrated financial need. Preference
shall be given to students who have an interest in studying either insect problems
or diseases in conservation tillage.
Tim and Amy Baughman Oravec Memorial Award.
Consideration for this award shall be given to all undergraduate students enrolled
or planning to enroll in either Animal Sciences or Agroecology majors in
the College of Agricultural Sciences who have performed outstanding service
(paid or unpaid) within the previous academic year in a crop or applied
animal nutrition lab.
** Pennsylvania Forage and Grassland Council Scholarship.
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to full-time undergraduate
students who are currently enrolled or planning to enroll in the College
of Agricultural Sciences majoring in Agroecology with an option in either
Integrated Crop Management or Plant Science or enrolled in the Department
of Dairy and Animal Science whose cumulative grade point average is not
less than the all-University GPA and who have a demonstrated financial
need. Preference shall be given to those students who have a background
or have expressed an interest in forage based agriculture. Supported annually
by the Pennsylvania Forage and Grassland Council.
** Pennsylvania Agronomic Education Society, Inc., Scholarship.
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time undergraduate
students in their sophomore or junior year who are enrolled in any major
in the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences or Horticulture. Consideration
shall be based on scholarship, leadership, financial need and interest
in his/her major. One award will be made in Crop and Soil Sciences and
the other in Horticulture. Supported annually by the Pennsylvania Agronomic
Education Society, Inc.
Pennsylvania Seedsmen’s Association Award.
Eligibility is open to all Horticulture and Agroecology junior or senior undergraduate
students who have demonstrated leadership and character, and who have shown
outstanding ability in agriculture particularly as it relates to the seed
industry. Supported annually by the Pennsylvania Seedsmen’s Association
grant.
M. Forest Randolph Memorial Scholarship in Crop and Soil Sciences.
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time undergraduate
students enrolled or planning to enroll in any major in the Department
of Crop and Soil Sciences in the College of Agricultural Sciences who have
achieved positive academic records or who manifest promise of academic
success.
Harold W. Swartley Scholarship in Agronomy.
Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to all full-time and part-time
undergraduate students enrolled or planning to enroll in the Department
of Crop and Soil Sciences in the College of Agricultural Sciences who have
achieved superior academic records of whom manifest promise of outstanding
academic success.
