Committee Role and Responsibilities
Recognition
Upon Retirement
Upon notice of impending retirement, retiree should be asked
if s/he have paid up their annual dues:
1.) If, yes, ask if they wish to become a Life Member, wish
to receive a Nittany Lion statue or donate the amount ($90.00)
to a scholarship fund within ESP
2.) If they choose to become a Life Member:
a)
Have them complete the Life Member application and together
with a check for $30 from them, forward to the chapter secretary.
The secretary will write a check for $90 (current equivalent
cost for Nittany Lion statue) and forward the application
and checks to the national office.
b) Request
a Life Member certificate (it is free) from the national
office.
c) You will need to complete the name and years of service
in cooperative extension on the certificate, and have the
current chapter president sign it.
d) Purchase a suitable frame (8 & 1/2 x 11) and install
certificate ($4-$6 is suggested)
e) Have someone present the certificate, along with appropriate
comments, at the recognition. Anyone that knows the retiree
and about ESP could make the presentation.
f) If there is no retirement recognition, another option
is to make a brief presentation to the retiree at the annual
meeting of Alpha Omicron, if they are able to attend.
g) If they choose the Nittany Lion statue, purchase an approximate
$90 statue and have that presented, along with appropriate
comments.
h) Turn in receipts for all purchases to the treasurer for
reimbursement.
Miscellaneous
Operational Reminders - The only way to find out about years
of cooperative extension service, for use on the Life Member
certificate, is to ask the retiree.
