MEMBERSHIP AND INITIATION COMMITTEE REPORT

October 10, 2008

* Two reminder letters and personal contacts were made to encourage members to pay their dues during fall 2007- spring 2008.  Additional phone calls were also made by committee members.  Collected all checks and forwarded them to the chapter treasurer.

* Submitted articles for the Spring and Fall 2008 issues of the ESP newsletter.

* Held a conference call on April 24, 2008 with the ESP Membership Committee to consider a variety of ways to recruit new members.

* Requested list of Penn State Cooperative Extension employees eligible for membership from Kim Evancho. Sent letters of invitation to join Epsilon Sigma Phi to 20 potential members. Requested membership committee to make personal contact with these potential members.
            3 extension employees agreed to join. Follow-up phone calls were made or emails were also sent to encourage invitees to join the organization.

* Members to be initiated on October 29, 2008:

Lori Hansroth
Jonathan Laughner

* Individuals who could not attend the 2007 ESP meeting and initiation who will be initiated in 2008:
            Cindy Arblaster
            Rob Goodling

* Arrangements for the initiation were coordinated with Karen Vines and Peter Wulfhorst.
