VIDEOCONFERENCE TO HELP AG PRODUCERS WITH DROUGHT INFO
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Agricultural producers hard hit by the current drought emergency can receive helpful advice and information by attending a satellite videoconference, Tuesday, Aug. 10 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Produced by Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture and the USDA Farm Services Agency, the interactive event will be broadcast from studios at Penn State's University Park campus and downlinked at Penn State Cooperative Extension county offices across the state.
"The videoconference will cover such issues as crop insurance and emergency loans, animal care, crop harvesting, water quality and quantity, and family stress," says Jack Watson, Penn State Cooperative Extension state program leader for agriculture and natural resources. "Panelists will include extension specialists in agronomy, horticulture, water quality, animal science and family living, as well as representatives from the Farm Bureau, Farm Services Agency and Department of Agriculture."
A toll-free telephone number and a fax number will be given during the broadcast for audience members to ask questions of the panelists.
For information on satellite coordinates or the nearest downlink site, contact any Penn State Cooperative Extension county office, or call 814-865-6309.
