Basic Information

The information on this site is presented to:

• Provide taxpayers, especially moderate earners, with information to assist them in preparing and filing income tax returns.
• Provide easy to read information which explains common questions about the U. S. tax system applicable to many moderate earners.

This site is provided, in part, because of a Penn State University College of Agricultural Sciences Seed Grant which acknowledges the need for special outreach to educate moderate income taxpayers about income taxes and special programs designed to improve individual and family well-being and financial literacy.

January 1 to April 15, 2009 is the tax filing season for the 2008 tax year. Gather your records and see if you are eligible for free income tax preparation assistance through Penn State Cooperative Extension.
